Shaun Edwards says he will speak to Wigan over the next couple of days about his future at the club.

The 52-year-old will leave his role as defence coach of Wales following the conclusion of the Rugby Union World Cup this autumn.

And last weekend, Edwards revealed he verbally agreed to become Wigan head coach in 2020 – but actually hadn’t signed a contract with the club.

Speaking on talkSPORT with Jim White on Wednesday, Edwards said: “I need some time to think and to evaluate my situation.

“I’m going to speak to Wigan over the next few days.

“I actually haven’t signed a contract with Wigan, but I’ve been conversing with the chairman over the last few days and we will probably make a press statement in the next few days.”
