Barrow Raiders have confirmed that chairman David Sharpe is stepping down from his role at the club.

Sharpe has been involved with the Raiders for six years, and has been the club’s chairman for the last five, but feels that he can no longer devote the time required to the club.

“I would like to thank my fellow directors, sponsors, supporters and volunteers for their support over the last five years,” said Sharpe, in a statement on the Raiders’ official website.

“I believe we have moved the club forward, but it is no longer possible for me to commit the time and attention that is required to fulfil my role.

“I wish the club every success in the future and leave with a heavy heart.”
