Sharp ready for Leigh reaction

Featherstone Rovers coach Jon Sharp is anticipating a fired up Leigh team at the Big Fella’s Stadium on Sunday.

The Centurions were knocked out of the Challenge Cup by Toulouse away in France, while Fev themselves also exited the competition, with a 28-10 defeat to Batley.

“For 60 minutes I thought we acquitted ourselves really well considering the state we were in injury-wise,” said Sharp.

“We were down to the bare bones and lost three players who couldn’t return to the field so to be 6-4 ahead after 60 minutes took a massive effort but I think ultimately it caught up with us.

“Those injuries and the ability to make changes and freshen people up was just a bridge too far for us. Put in context, it was a massive effort from everyone.

“I think Leigh are a fantastic team and will bounce back. Collectively, when you go to France it’s a good opportunity for blokes to get together and gel.

“They’ve had an opportunity on their travels to fix things up and talk about things. I’m sure they’re going to be a really tough proposition; they seem way ahead of everyone else at the minute.

“We need definitely to play at our best and really have a dig at them.”
