Sharp hails Fev’s resilience

Featherstone Rovers coach Jon Sharp was delighted with the toughness his team showed in their 32-26 weekend win at Halifax.

Sharp’s squad had been hit with withdrawals, but his players showed real resilience to carve out a win, according to the coach.

“I knew they would be tough to beat, particularly at home, but we started very well and it gave us a real advantage as the game developed,” he said.

“Halifax eventually came into the game and had their say but we got there in the end and handled a great deal of pressure.

“I am encouraging the players to play and we did that, though there are plenty of areas to improve on.

“Saturday’s run through was the worst I have ever had. Losing Jason Walton, Scott Turner, Richard Moore and then going without Michael Knowles is difficult to take.

“We were forced to patch up the team, so to come through and earn two points says a great deal about what we are capable of in 2017.

“The attitude and the positivity of everyone involved has been great.”
