Sharp: Belief saw us through

Jon Sharp praised Featherstone’s resilience after their impressive 42-14 victory over Batley on Sunday.

Despite Chris Ulugia’s second half sin-binning, Rovers comfortably saw off the Bulldogs and now need just one more win to seal a top four finish in the Championship.

Sharp said: “Batley gave us a real contest in the first half and I thought they played well for the majority of the game.

“The second half went very well for us. Our completion rate was really good and we looked to have a lot of energy towards the back end of the game, which helped to extend the scoreline.

“I think our forwards contributed massively towards the outcome of the game. Josh Walters and Andy Bostock were outstanding.

“It was really pleasing to see how resilient the players were when we were a man down. Our attitude, execution and belief in one another during that period was second to none.

“We have three very important games coming up and we know what we are likely to face. We are more than capable of securing our place in The Qualifiers.

“It is just a case of keeping players fit and healthy, which is a mistake we made last season, so we will prepare for that and ring the changes if necessary.”
