Shannon McDonnell to leave Hull KR

Hull KR have confirmed that full-back Shannon McDonnell has rejected a new contract and chosen to leave at the end of the season.

McDonnell, 24, was offered a new two-year deal at Craven Park after impressing in his debut Super League season.

CEO Mike Smith spoke of the disappointment of losing the Australian on the club’s official website.

“Obviously we’re disappointed that Shannon has chosen not to take us up on our offer but we have agreed, at the request of his agent, to allow him to speak to other clubs.”

The former Newcastle Knights and Wests Tigers man came to Hull KR to prove himself in Super League – something he has definitely achieved.

Sydney-born McDonnell has become an ever-present in the side and a lot of clubs will be interested in his services.
