St George Illawarra Dragons have confirmed that Shane Flanagan will become an assistant coach at the NRL club in 2020.

The Dragons say they have exercised due diligence throughout the lengthy appointment process of Flanagan in consideration of his NRL coaching de-registration in 2018.

The NRL have allowed Flanagan to return to coaching in late-December. He has signed a one-year deal with the Dragons.

St George Illawarra coach Paul McGregor commented: “Shane will be a valuable asset to the Dragons’ endeavours in 2020.

“His success has been proven time and time again over many years and we’re glad to have him on board.”
