Serious injury for Widdop

It is suspected that England international Gareth Widdop has dislocated his hip.

Widdop, 24, cried out in agony as he was tackled early in the second half of his Melbourne side’s defeat to Gold Coast earlier today.

The Yorkshireman was then stretchered off the field and Storm will now have to wait for further information as to the severity of the injury.

England coach Steve McNamara will also be alerted to Widdop’s condition, with the stand-off sure to be a big part of his World Cup plans.
