Senior to face RFL hearing

The RFL have charged Keith Senior over his comments about Richard Silverwood in the aftermath of Leeds’ World Club Challenge defeat.

Senior, 33, hit out at Silverwood following the Rhinos’ 18-10 loss to Melbourne Storm.

The former Great Britain centre is charged with a breach of Operational Rule D1.10(i) (Criticism of Match Official) which states that “no person shall publish or cause to be published (or give any interview to the media by whatsoever medium) which contains criticism of the character of a Match Official or criticism of the manner in which a Match Official has officiated at a game in which the club or player has taken part, or of any other game under the control of the RFL.”

Senior blasted Silverwood saying: “I’m sick of him, he’s arrogant. A lot of players don’t like playing with him. He likes to be the centre of attention and he got his way tonight.”

He later apologised for his remarks, but will now appear before a RFL Operational Rules Tribunal next Wednesday to answer the charges.
