James Segeyaro will start at hooker for Papua New Guinea

New Leeds hooker James Segeyaro has vowed to make a return to the NRL.

Segeayro has switched to the Rhinos in a swap deal for Zak Hardaker. The hooker was out of favour at Penrith.

He could make his debut for Leeds this weekend against Widnes.

Segeyaro’s deal with the Rhinos is until the end of the 2016 season but may be extended for longer.

“I want to get back to that form that I believe I can get back to and hopefully come back to the NRL,” Segeyaro told Channel Nine.

“I have never been in this situation before, a club never wanting me. I was shocked to be in reserve grade … they said it was best for me if I leave the club.”

“We were trying to find different clubs (in the NRL). But everyone else has three or four hookers.”

Segeyaro said he was paying the price for a photo posted on social media of him having dinner with alleged criminals at Sydney’s Star casino.

“It was a photo, nothing more, nothing less. I think it was taken out of context,” he said.
