Leigh winger Kieran Dixon is on the move for the second time this season, signing for League 1 side Rochdale on a two-week loan.

Dixon, 29, signed for Leigh ahead of the 2022 campaign having left York. He has made just three appearances for the Centurions though, scoring once. That try came on the opening day against Whitehaven.

Loaned out once already to fellow Championship club Widnes, Dixon failed to make an appearance for the Vikings after pulling his groin.

“Kieran is lightning quick and knows his way to the try-line,” said Rochdale chairman Andy Mazey.

“He has a lot of Super League and high-end Championship experience, and will come straight into contention for Sunday’s trip to Swinton.

“I would personally like to thank Chris Chester and Derek [Beaumont], over at Leigh, for their support on this one.”

A former England Knights international, Dixon has played in Super League for both London and Hull KR.

He will now be a part of Matt Calland’s Hornets squad. They currently sit 4th in the League 1 table and have won seven of their nine games so far this term.

Other League 1 Transfers

Dixon isn’t the only one on the move across League 1 ahead of this weekend’s games.

Basement boys Cornwall have made the month-long loan signing of Nathan Cullen. The 19-year-old prop moves south from Hull KR. He is currently on a reserve team contract at Craven Park.

“Due to injuries and suspensions, we need some cover in that area,” said Cornwall chief Neil Kelly.

“It will be a step up for him [Cullen] from reserve grade football to League 1, but the people I have spoken to within the game say he’s a very good prospect.”

Cornwall take on table toppers Keighley this Sunday who themselves have a new acquisition.

Unbeaten and in the hunt for promotion, the Cougars have added Junior Sa’u. A former Leigh man, the centre had been playing rugby union in America with Old Glory DC.

8th-placed Oldham have also bolstered their ranks with Irish international Dec O’Donnell. The 23-year-old came through the ranks at Wigan and has joined the Roughyeds for one-month from Workington Town.
