Season over for Dugan and Merrin

test

St George Illawarra and New South Wales duo Josh Dugan and Trent Merrin have both been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Dugan, 23, suffered a broken thumb in the second half of Sunday’s 26-24 loss to Brisbane.

The Dragons confirmed Dugan will have surgery on Wednesday, ensuring his season is over.

The news is just as bad for forward Merrin, with scans revealing the knee injury he picked up against the Broncos will keep him out for a minimum of four games.

With it being practically impossible for the Red V to have any hope of playing in the finals, Merrin has no chance of returning before the end of the 2013 season.
