Sean O’Loughlin ‘would love’ to play on in 2020

Sean O’Loughlin hasn’t been in official negotiations with Wigan over a contract for 2020, although he would love to continue playing beyond this season.

The Wigan and England skipper is off-contract at the end of the season and has yet to sign a new deal for next year.

O’Loughlin has been on a ‘rolling contract’ with the Warriors for a couple of years now and even though he hasn’t properly talked to the club about playing next year, he feels he is physically capable of carrying on beyond this campaign.

When asked if he is contract talks with Wigan, O’Loughlin replied: “I’m not really, no.

“It’s been brought up a bit but we are not at the stage where I’ve been chatting to them about it too much, but I’m sure I will be at some point soon.

“I’d like to play as long as possible. For me now, it is a long time until the end of the season and it’s about how I feel more at the back end of the season rather than what I feel now.

“But with the way I feel now, I would love to go around again but I’ve got a bit of time to go this season.”

Wigan face Catalans in a historic Super League fixture at FC Barcelona’s Nou Camp on Saturday, 3:30pm (UK time) kick-off.
