Wigan captain Sean O’Loughlin could miss the rest of the year after suffering a suspected torn pectoral muscle on Thursday night.

The 36-year-old left the field and didn’t return in the first half of the Warriors’ 15-14 win over Hull FC at the KCOM Stadium.

O’Loughlin – who has played 19 games this season – only returned from a five-week absence with an Achilles injury on Thursday night.

Wigan coach Adrian Lam commented: “It’s sad news. That might be it for the rest of the year for him.

“It looks like he’s got a torn pec. I don’t know the time frame, it may be six weeks or it may be 10 weeks.

“It’s a massive blow but we’ve probably played half the season without him.”

O’Loughlin is out-of-contract with the Warriors at the end of the season and was hoping to make it into the Great Britain squad for their tour of the southern hemisphere this autumn.
