Newly appointed Featherstone Football Manager and former Great Britain international Sean Long has come out in a statement to endorse the club’s push for Super League.

Long, 36, said, “There is no doubt the club is ready for top-flight rugby. Having trained the squad now and having spent time with them I know there are several players who can easily step-up to Super League.

“The Board of Directors and Nahaboo have done well to extend contracts of a number of key players with Super league experience, I also hear there are more to come.

“I was convinced it was the right decision to join the club, having met the Board as well as witnessing at first hand the ambition and vision the club have.

“The club has a new stand being built, a new academy close to completion and an owner pledging substantial funds to build the right team on the park to compete at Super League level.

“Having been associated with Wigan, St Helens and Salford I’m confident we are all witnessing the desire from Fev to be ready and the infrastructure in place to compete at the highest level of Super League.

“I’m excited to be part of the first stage toward the goal of being in Super League and I will continue to work with the officials and Nahaboo himself to help this club progress.”
