Scruton out for season

Wakefield prop Nick Scruton has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a thumb injury.

Scruton, 29, has undergone surgery to reconstruct the ligaments in his thumb now to enable him to return in time for pre-season ahead of the 2015 campaign.

He becomes the second player from James Webster‘s squad to go under the knife in recent weeks, following Matt Ryan‘s shoulder reconstruction.

Both players have played on with their respective injuries in recent months, but Webster was keen to get both players back fully-fit ahead of pre-season.
