Swinton have signed Rochdale hooker Scott Moore in a swap deal that sees Kyle Shelford head in the opposite direction.

Moore linked up with the Hornets ahead of the 2019 campaign, making 15 appearances for the Championship club. He has joined the Lions for the rest of the season.

On signing Moore, Swinton coach Stuart Littler said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be able to announce the signing of Scott Moore from Rochdale.

“Scott will bring us vast experience and a high level of understanding of the game. He has been involved at numerous high level clubs and was a leading player in our previous Championship match up at the Summer Bash.

“After several talks with Scott and him being a personal friend, I know he is coming here for the right reasons and I know exactly what he will bring. This signing is an exciting one at a really exciting and pivotal stage of the season.”

Shelford – who is the son of former New Zealand and Wigan front-rower Adrian – has signed for the Hornets until the end of the season.

On signing Shelford, Rochdale coach Matt Calland said: “Kyle is a young front-rower at just 22 who has a great attitude and is very athletic.

“He has come through some very good systems as a junior at Wigan, and is willing to work hard and improve his game.

“He also comes from a great pedigree as the son of Adrian, and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
