Scotland wants Super League club

Scotland is crying out for a Super League team, according to former Castleford boss Graham Steadman.

Edinburgh is hosting a whole round of Super League action on Saturday and Sunday in the Magic Weekend at Murrayfield.

Steadman, who is now working for the Scottish rugby union, believes an Edinburgh based team would be a success in the top flight.

He told Scottish sport site inthewinningzone: “The big thing about this weekend is that’s spreading the gospel of rugby league. Hopefully down the road they will be looking to have a Super League club in Scotland.

“This weekend is a great thing all round for the SRU, for Scotland, for the RFL and for Super League and it means they promoting the game.”

The RFL have integrated a French team (Catalans in 2006) and a team from Wales (Celtic, 2009) and have a clear policy of expanding rugby league beyond its traditional boundaries in the north.
