Scorpions to honour Danny Jones at Big Welsh Derby

South Wales Scorpions assistant coach Paul Emanuelli has confirmed that the passing of Welsh international Danny Jones will be marked at the Big Welsh Derby this coming weekend.

Jones tragically died after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest, while playing for Keighley against London Skolars.

“I didn’t play alongside Danny for Wales but I know some of the lads did,” said Emanuelli.

“I played against him as part of a Wales Select XIII though in preparation for the 2013 World Cup.

“We at the Scorpions were devastated when we found out about Danny.

“We heard about him being taken ill following our game at Hemel but everything was all confirmed to us when we were on the bus going home.

“Everyone at the club sends their condolences to Danny’s family and friends and I know the club will be doing something to remember him next Sunday at the Arms Park.”
