Scorpions sign former Brisbane academy back

South Wales Scorpions have signed Australian utility back Kayle Connor.

Connor, 21, has been playing in the Queensland Cup competition in Australia with Souths Logan Magpies, and holds a British passport.

Scorpions’ coach Dave Clark said: “We’re really pleased that Kayle will be coming to Wales to play for us in 2013. He can play in many positions in the back-line and will be a massive asset to us in the challenges that we will face next year.”

Connor previously played for Norths Devils, whom he helped to the 2011 Grand Final, and played for Queensland schoolboys at rugby union in his younger days.

An accomplished goal kicker, Connor added: “I’m looking forward to a new challenge and I see the move to South Wales Scorpions as a good opportunity to further my Rugby League career. Dave has told me a lot about the club and I’m looking forward to playing in Wales. My goal is to eventually play in the Super League.”
