Scorpions add Rainer on loan ahead of Crusaders clash

South Wales Scorpions have added reinforcement in the shape of prop Nathan Rainer, who they have signed on loan from Gloucestershire All Golds.

The front rower played for Wales Students in the recent Student Four Nations in Ireland.

He will be in contention for coach Mike Grady‘s team when the Scorpions face North Wales Crusaders in Wrexham on Sunday in the second ‘Big Welsh Derby’ of the season.

“It was like a typical feisty derby last week against the All Golds and our young side stood up really well, but the All Golds just had that extra experience that gave them the edge,” said Grady.

“We’re looking forward to North Wales this week. They will be looking for a win to keep in touch with the top sides.

“There’s no pressure on us, we will just go at there and have a go, enjoy it and give a good account of ourselves.

“We’re looking forward to seeing Nathan turn out for us too. He was very impressive with Wales Students and we’re delighted he’s joined us on loan.”
