HAVE YOUR SAY: Has Wayne Bennett picked the right 17-man England squad to play Australia?

England coach Wayne Bennett named his 17-man squad that will face Australia on Friday and there are a couple of surprises.

Despite Stefan Ratchford playing at full-back in the warm-up game against the Affiliated States side last week, it is St Helens ace Jonny Lomax who gets the No. 1 shirt.

Bennett has gone with John Bateman, who is normally a back-rower, to play at centre instead of Mark Percival, probably due to Bateman’s work ethic in defence.

Jermaine McGillvary and Ryan Hall are on the wings, with Gareth Widdop and Luke Gale starting in the halves as expected.

Chris Hill and James Graham are the starting props, with Josh Hodgson at hooker.

Due to skipper Sean O’Loughlin being fit and available, Sam Burgess has moved to play alongside Elliott Whitehead in the back-row.

And uncapped prop Alex Walmsley is set to make his debut by coming off the interchange bench with Chris Heighington, Tom Burgess and St Helens teammate James Roby.

The players in reserve are Ben Currie, Kevin Brown, Mark Percival and Scott Taylor while George Williams, Mike McMeeken and Ratchford miss out.
