Sa’u to join Salford

Junior Sa’u is to sign for Salford, according to his current club Melbourne Storm.

Sa’u, 26, is a Kiwi international centre who can also play on the wing or in the second row.

His Storm teammate Lagi Setu is also on the move and will join NRL rivals Canberra Raiders.

Melbourne General Manager Frank Ponissi said, “It was the club’s and both Junior and Lagi’s preference to remain with Melbourne Storm, however due to salary cap constraints and other circumstances we were unable to offer them a position on our playing roster for 2014.

“We know both players will continue to be focused on finishing 2013 strongly with the club and we wish them all the best for next year.”

Sa’u looks like being Salford’s first of many big name signings for next season, with ambitious owner Marwan Koukash regularly promising to splash the cash since his arrival at the club.
