Wigan have re-signed former England centre Dan Sarginson from NRL side Gold Coast Titans.

Sarginson, 24, departed the DW Stadium at the end of 2016 but has only managed five appearances Down Under due to a shoulder injury and was told he wouldn’t be part of the Titans first team plans.

Warriors executive director, Kris Radlinski, said: “We were recently made aware of Dan’s situation in Australia and acted swiftly to secure his return to Wigan. Dan was phenomenal in the 2016 Grand Final and put in a performance that will live long in the memory.

“He has been desperately unlucky with the injury he sustained whilst at Gold Coast but is fit again now and will soon join the rest of the squad for pre-season training to prepare for the 2018 season.”
Sarginson, who scored 26 tries in 82 games for Wigan during his three years, returns on a two-year deal.

He is the latest in a growing line of players to have left and returned to the club under Shaun Wane, including Sam and Joel Tomkins, Lee Mossop, Joe Burgess and Thomas Leuluai.

Sarginson added: “I can’t wait to get back to the club I have so many fond memories with including the greatest moment of my career, winning the 2016 Grand Final.

“Although it didn’t work out the way I would have liked due to injuries I’m glad to have had the experience of playing the in NRL. I’m really looking forward to getting back amongst it with the boys and to the new season ahead.”
