Sarginson looking forward to new season

London youngster Dan Sarginson says the Broncos are in good shape ahead of their Super League season opener against Widnes next month.

Both sides were embroiled in a battle to avoid the wooden spoon in 2012, and a dramatic late victory over the Vikings at Twickenham Stoop helped London lift themselves to 12th by the end of the campaign.

Sarginson said: “All the boys have put in 100 per cent during pre-season and the team are probably in the best shape we’ve ever been in.

“We’re really looking forward to the season ahead. It’s the first full pre-season I’ve had personally and all the boys are looking in good shape.

“Widnes were similar to us last year in that they had a lot of new signings. They have a good team on paper so it should be a good game. Even when we played them at their place both games were decided in the last couple of minutes so it would be good to get one over on them in the first game of the season.”

Prior to the Widnes game, London have three pre-season friendlies lined-up – against London Skolars (Jan 11, 2pm), Toulouse (Jan 19, 6.30pm) and Catalan (Jan 23, 6.30pm).

Sarginson scored five tries in 19 appearances for the Broncos last season, having made his debut against Gateshead in the Challenge Cup back in 2011.
