Sandercock: We made mistakes like under 10s

Hull KR coach Craig Sandercock said his team made errors similar to that of an under 10s team.

Sandercock also blasted his team for being very lethargic and for not displaying enough patience in their 24-22 defeat to Salford.

He said: “The only thing I can think of in defence of my boys is that the last month has been very intense with some massive matches. We were very lethargic, very flat and it was very disappointing.

“We made some very basic errors that you’d probably rear up about with an under 10’s team and we need to make sure we don’t make those kind of errors again. We definitely need to show more patience with the football and that’s two weeks in a row where we didn’t have the composure we needed on the opposition line.

“Our completion rates aren’t good enough at the moment and we need to learn to be a bit more patient with the footy and perhaps force a few more line drop-outs.”

Sandercock is now looking forward to a weeks rest while the Challenge Cup semi finals take place. Rovers will return to Super League action with an eagerly anticipated derby match at home to Hull FC.

Sandercock said: “We’ve now got a couple of weeks before we play again and it’d be nice to think we may have one or two players back on deck by then. We’ll train hard and use the next two weeks to our advantage.”
