Sandercock pleased with Walker

Hull KR head coach Craig Sandercock has praised young prop Adam Walker, after his notable recent form.

Walker, 22, was signed from Huddersfield for an undisclosed fee ahead of the current season, and he managed his first try for Rovers during last week’s Hull derby defeat.

Sandercock is delighted with Walker’s progress, and was very complimentary about his man-of-the-match performance last Sunday.

“Adam did fantastically well last Sunday. He dominated in defence and attack, and the key now for Adam is he needs to keep that level of consistency up,” said the Australian coach.

Leeds are up next for the Robins and Sandercock added, “He is playing against some pretty big boys in Jamie Peacock and Kylie Leuluai this week. They will be a handful for him and will provide a good test of his abilities.

“He stood up well against Mark O’Meley last week and he needs to continue that for us.”

Bradford-born Walker has so far made 21 appearances in 2013.
