Sammut in doubt for Sheffield

Jarrod Sammut is nursing a shoulder injury and is in doubt for Workington Town‘s match against Sheffield.

Town travel to South Yorkshire to take on the Eagles on Sunday.

Workington were defeated by Swinton last weekend.

Coach Phil Vievers said: “I thought we underperformed. We had a simple game plan that we didn’t stick to, my half-backs didn’t deliver the game plan for us and it was a loss.

“We need to regroup now and face the rest of the season.

“It’s a tall task with the amount of injuries we’ve got to get a result against Sheffield this weekend. It’ll be tough.”

Sheffield secured an impressive 54-24 win over Oldham last weekend.

Coach Mark Aston said: “Oldham  have done the double over us this season, so we needed to make a statement.

“We didn’t start well but from 60 minutes we were good. Once we got into gear we started doing the things we are capable of; we took the game away from them.”
