Sam Kasiano says he rejected an offer from St George Illawarra because he wanted to experience life in France with Catalans.

The Samoa international was forced to leave Melbourne Storm due to salary cap issues, even though he had two years remaining on his contract.

Kasiano had an offer on the table from NRL outfit St George Illawarra, but decided it was time for a change and that the Dragons in Super League were the answer.

“All that salary cap stuff, that’s the reason I had to leave,” Kasiano revealed.

“I didn’t want to go to St George. I felt I was ready to come here and experience France.

“When I heard about the offer, me and my wife said straight away ‘let’s go to France’.

“It is a big challenge. It’s an honour to be here and join this great club. I’m just looking forward to playing some footy now.”
