Sam Burgess leaves Bath to return to Souths

Sam Burgess has left Bath RUFC, and will shortly return to Australia to play for South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NRL.

Despite claims from Bath coach Mike Ford that he would see out the remaining two years of his three-year deal, Burgess has left the 15-man code to return ‘home’ to rugby league.

Rugby league fans will be delighted to see ‘Slammin’ Sam’ back in the ranks of the 13-man code, after he was picked as a centre for England RU’s utterly shanbolic World Cup campaign.

Much of the blame for that embarrassing debacle was laid at Burgess’s door, often by the rugby union media, and that may have contributed to the player’s return to the NRL.
