Salford’s Ryan Brierley sin-binned in crucial period of Super League clash

Salford full-back Ryan Brierley has been sent to the sin-bin during his side’s Super League fixture with Warrington at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

The 30-year-old was sent for 10 in the 59th minute by official Jack Smith for holding down at the play the ball.

His side were leading 20-10 at the time, and conceded just minutes later with Warrington forward Thomas Mikaele crashing over under the sticks to reduce the deficit.

Brierley scored his side’s second of the night, with loanee Ellis Longstaff scoring the first against his parent club. Marc Sneyd scoring the sides third and converting four.

But Warrington took the lead with Brierley forced to watch on not long after his sin-bin. Warrington winger Josh Thewlis crossing in the corner, collecting a kick by George Williams.

It was awarded a possible eight-point try for late contact made by Tyler Dupree on Thewlis. However, Stefan Ratchford could only convert one of the goals to give his side a 22-20 lead with 15 remaining.

That was however further extended, with George Williams going himself for a 28-20 advantage.
