Salford victorious as Higson sees red

Salford took advantage of Adam Higson’s dismissal to record a 36-22 victory over Leigh at Magic Weekend on Sunday.

Matty Fleming and Mitch Brown grabbed tries for Leigh in the first half, but Ben Murdoch-Masila’s double and further efforts from Kris Welham and Greg Johnson put Salford 24-12 up at the break.

Ben Crooks closed the gap for the Centurions, before Higson saw red for a late hit on Gareth O’Brien.

Neil Evalds and Johnson crossed to seal the points for Salford, although Matty Dawson scored in between those tries to briefly raise Leigh’s hopes of a comeback.
