Salford star Josh Jones to get married day after Grand Final

It will be a nerve-wracking weekend for Salford forward Josh Jones – but an exciting one.

The 26-year-old will line up against former club St Helens in the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford on Saturday.

And then on Sunday, he will get married to his partner Olivia.

Jones said: “I think I’m more nervous for the Grand Final to be honest!

“If we can win this for the club then it would be a momentous achievement. We are excited but we are ready for it.

“I’m getting married on Sunday so I’m trying to prepare myself for that as well as the game. I’m trying to stay off the beer so I didn’t have one after our win at Wigan last week. Hopefully I can have one or two if we win on Saturday.

“We are trying not to read too much into the whole Old Trafford occasion yet. We’ve got a long week of training to go before we play but we are all excited.”

Jones has been in sensational form for the Red Devils this season, scoring six tries in 32 games as well as being named in the Super League Dream.

And he was keen to point out that Salford genuinely believe they can turn over heavy favourites Saints at the Theatre of Dreams.

Jones added: “We set our goals at the start of the year and we knew what we wanted to do and what we were capable of as a squad.

“It always helps when you have someone of Jackson’s [Hastings] quality. It’s been a great year but it isn’t over yet. We want to win it.”
