Salford refuse Sneyd’s transfer request

Salford Red Devils have confirmed that a transfer request from scrum-half Marc Sneyd has been refused.

The player, currently on loan at Castleford, where he has attracted rave reviews for his performances, has 18 months of his Salford deal left to run.

The Red Devils have signed Michael Dobson for next season. The experienced Australian halfback will join young Theo Fages and Rangi Chase, as well as Snyed, in the Salford squad.

But Sneyd will not be allowed to leave to further his career, at Castleford or elsewhere, it would seem.

“We have made very clear to Marc that our intention was for him to play out the remainder of his contract at the AJ Bell Stadium as he remains an integral part of our plans moving forward,” said Salford CEO Martin Vickers.

“The Club has no intentions of changing its position and we all need to move past this and look forward to the exciting squad we are assembling for next season and beyond.”
