Salford have announced a 32-man-squad for their pre-season match against Warrington on Friday night at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

The match, which will act as Lee Mossop’s testimonial, will see a blend of youth and experience appearing for both sides.

Warrington confirmed their 19-man squad yesterday, with 11 of those being players from the academy.

In contrast, Salford have selected 15 first team players for this match, with the other 17 players coming from the academy.

One big headline from that squad is Tim Lafai coming into the squad for the first time, having missed their previous friendlies. With the start of the Super League around the corner, this is a welcome boost for Salford. Danny Addy also misses out through suspension.

New Head Coach Paul Rowley will see his side in action for the third time. They previously picked up wins against League One Swinton and Championship Halifax.

The Red Devils will then open their Super League campaign against Castleford next Friday.

Deon Cross on working under Paul Rowley and learning under Ken Sio

Deon Cross is hoping to impress head coach Paul Rowley enough to be in for the chance to make his official debut in round one against Castleford.

The winger made the switch to the AJ Bell Stadium from Widnes for 2022 on a one-year deal.

“Paul has given me a lot of confidence,” Cross told Love Rugby League.

“He’s played me at centre which just shows that he’s got that confidence that he can play me at centre and also on the wing.”
