Salford make audacious bid for Sam Tomkins

Salford owner Dr Marwan Koukash has asked Wigan to name their price for superstar full-back Sam Tomkins.

Ambitious Koukash wants Tomkins to help turn the Reds in to a Super League force, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Koukash is quoted as saying: “I have contacted Wigan to tell them I am interested in signing Sam and would be prepared to pay a transfer fee for him.”

Tomkins has been linked to moves to rugby union and the NRL, and is not even two years in to a five year deal at Wigan signed in November 2011.

Last week, Castleford turned down an approach from Salford for another England international, half-back Rangi Chase.
