Salford confirm new signings

Salford have confirmed the signing of Martin Gleeson and ex-Manly duo Vic Mauro and Liam Foran.

They follow hot on the heels of Jack Murphy and Rhys Williams, who joined this week on month loan deals from Wigan and Warrington respectively, and the capture of free agent Ryan McGoldrick.

Australian half-back Connor Higgins will also join the Reds on a three-month trial from South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Foran, a half-back, is the younger brother of New Zealand international Kieran, made seven appearances for Manly last season.

The 24-year-old made his first grade debut for Melbourne back in May 2010.

Back-rower Mauro is likely to turn out for Italy in the World Cup at the end of the year, and he has played 47 times for Manly, including in their 2011 Grand Final win over New Zealand Warriors.

Gleeson turned out for Salford in their pre-season friendly against Swinton earlier this month, following the end of his drugs ban.

He has previously played in Super League for Huddersfield, St Helens, Warrington, Wigan and Hull.

Higgins, who has joined on trial, featured for South Sydney Juniors on their recent tour of the UK, which saw them take on BARLA Great Britain Lions.

The signings come following the confirmation of Dr Marwan Koukash’s takeover over the club.
