Two tries from Kiwi full-back Brent Webb along with touchdowns from half-back pairing Rob Burrow and Danny McGuire in the first half looked to have given Leeds an insurmountable lead at the interval.

John Wilshere had replied for the Reds in the first half, but despite much hard work it took until after the break for the home side to really get the scoreboard ticking over.

Wilshere grabbed his second just moments after the restart, with Leeds replying through Clinton Toopi before Aaron Moule and Gareth Haggerty touched down to give Salford a glimmer of hope.

Moule grabbed another try with just five minutes left in the game to ensure a nervy finish for the visitors, but Leeds were able to hold on to their lead until the final hooter.
