Salford cancel player of the year award

Salford owner Dr Marwan Koukash has reacted to the club’s inconsistent season by cancelling the club’s player of the year award.

The Red Devils lost 42-6 at Wakefield Wildcats at the weekend, a result which leaves their play-off dreams in tatters.

Koukash, never one to hang back when it comes to making his feelings known, took to Twitter to announce that no awards would be handed out this season.

“The club have decided to cancel this year’s player of the year award and focus our energy on the next 2 games and building for next year,” Koukash said.

In the immediate aftermath of the Wakefield defeat, Koukash had been scathing in his assessment of his team’s display in Yorkshire.

“I am sure the players by now have realised that they owe the fans ,who travelled to watch them play today, an apology,” he tweeted.
