Salford boss Paul Rowley says he is happy for his forward pack to go under the radar and do the business in 2022.

The AJ Bell Stadium side have added several new faces to their pack for the upcoming Super League campaign. That includes former NRL forward Shane Wright and Super League pair King Vuniyayawa and Sitaleki Akaoula.

The side have lost Pauli Pauli (York), Lee Mossop (retired) and Seb Ikahihifo (Huddersfield) in their pack. They also recently added former Leigh and Widnes forward Alex Gerrard to their 2022 squad.

The Red Devils opened their pre-season campaign last weekend with a 48-12 victory over Swinton at home, with Brodie Croft, Ryan Brierley, Deon Cross and Wright crossing in their first appearances for the club.

And Rowley is happy for his pack to go about their business under the radar this season and ignore critics.

“The packs been written off all pre-season really,” he told Love Rugby League.

“We’ll just quietly go about our business and look to work to our strengths which will be working together as a pack. The very meaning of a pack is working together.

“Are we going to go head down backside up, that’s probably not the best strategy for us.

“But certainly working to achieve one-on-one opportunities through movements and support.

“It’s going to be really hard and challenging, but one that we want to do and stick together and go at it like that. Not listen to any outside noise and just try and put our best foot forward.”
