Salford bid for Chase rejected

Castleford have turned down an offer from Salford for Rangi Chase.

According to an official statement, following a meeting with the Reds on Monday, the Tigers board rejected the offer as it was way below the club’s valuation of him.

Chase has been at Castleford since 2009 when he joined from NRL side St George Illawarra, and his impressive performances have consistently seen him linked with moves away from Wheldon Road.

Visa issues prevented a move to Hull FC last year, and now Salford are the club who are attempting to sign the England international.

He has been one of the Reds main transfer targets since new owner Marwan Koukash bought the club in January, but they will have to revise their current offer if they are to prise the New Zealand-born playmaker away from Castleford.
