Salford appoint new chief executive

Salford have appointed Dave Matthews as their new chief executive, according to BBC Radio Manchester.

He replaces Ed Farish, who left his role by mutual consent last month, although he will work alongside the new man during a handover period.

Farish, who was formerly director of finance for Australia‘s NRL, was only appointed in February but he has now been replaced by Matthews – who will be taking his first job in rugby league.

The Reds, owned by multi-millionaire Dr Marwan Koukash, lie second from bottom of Super League but have recently made signings such as Adrian Morley and Francis Meli for the 2014 season.
