The Salford Red Devils have apologised for the behaviour of some of its fans after fighting in the stands following the club’s win over Huddersfield.
Salford players Junior Sa’u and Justin Carney were involved in heated exhanges after full-time with spectators at John Smith’s Stadium.
It is believed the pair may have gone into the stands to stop the fighting, which was near the players’ families.
The Red Devils tweeted: “We’d like to apologise for the behaviour of some of our fans today. We’ll be working with @Giantsrl to find those involved. We do not condone any behaviour of the sort.”
Saford owner Marwan Koukash tweeted: My apologies to @Giantsrl and to the decent fans. The Thugs responsible will be identified and dealt with. There is no place in RL for them.”
