Salary cap to remain the same

The Super League salary cap will remain the same and there has been no push to raise it following a meeting of the 12 clubs.

There have been some calls for the cap to be raised following the one-sided nature of the World Club Series.

But according to Super League boss Blake Solly, there have no moves to change the cap or the marquee player rule at a recent club meeting.

Solly said the clubs have all backed plans to expand the World Club Series in the future.

“While everyone wanted the results to be better, there was a feeling that it’s a great initiative and a great experience and that the tournament has got plenty of room to grow,” he told PA Sport.

“The support for the event is unanimous and there were some clubs in the room that are desperate to get in it, which is great.”
