Saints must keep destiny in their own hands

St Helens coach Justin Holbrook is pleased that his side have their play-off destiny in their own hands – but they must keep it that way.

Last week’s win at Castleford – the first team to do so this season – puts Saints in the top four but they face a tricky assignment at home to Hull this Friday.

He told the club’s official website: “We want to be in our own control and are in that position now.

“We have to keep it that way. It may be a cliché but nothing has changed since I first came in. We are taking it one week at time. We wanted to get better and we have done that.

“We’ve had good results for a while now. We are enjoying training and playing and when you get that combination right you look forward to your next game. That is how you become consistent.”

A win for St Helens over the Airlie Birds would lift them in to third place in the Super League table.
