Saints maintain 100% record at Huddersfield

St Helens eased past Huddersfield with a dominant second half display to maintain their perfect start to the season.

Leading by four points at the break, Saints scored 24 unanswered points to make it six wins from six at the top of Super League.

The Giants, buoyed by their win at Wigan last week, went toe to toe with the visitors in the first half, twice coming back from behind.

Luke Thompson and Morgan Knowles scored tries that were cancelled out by Jermaine McGillvary and Jordan Turner, before Mark Percival edged St Helens in to a 16-12 half-time lead.

They cut loose in the second half though, led by impressive full-back Lachlan Coote, as he set up Percival for a second and then found Regan Grace with a fine long pass.

Dominique Peyroux and Jonny Lomax added further tries, as the Giants’ frustrating second half was compounded by a trio of niggles and a couple of disallowed tries.
