Ryan Bailey a doubt for KR’s opener with Leeds

Hull KR prop Ryan Bailey is an injury doubt for his team’s season opener against his former club Leeds at the weekend.

The 30-year-old’s involvement in preseason has been hampered by a nagging Achilles tendon injury.

The problem has been eased by an injection, but still looks likely to keep him out of the game against the Rhinos.

The onus is now on the player to prove his fitness in training this week.

“Ryan’s desperate to play, but he has to remember it’s a long season,” Rovers coach Chris Chester told the Hull Daily Mail.

“Ryan has had an injection in his Achilles and I would say he is touch and go for Leeds.

“If I was a betting man, I’d probably say he will not make it, but we’ll wait and see.”

Meanwhile, it looks as though Albert Kelly, Maurice Blair and Ben Cockayne will all be fit enough to play in the game against Leeds.
