Ryan backing Wildcats for Cup success

Wakefield back rower Matt Ryan may be suspended for his team’s Challenge Cup tie against Leigh this weekend, but he is backing his team-mates to win the game.

The Wildcats welcome the Centurions to Belle Vue on Sunday, and Ryan is confident that they can produce a similar display to the one which saw off Halifax in the last round.

“It’s pretty frustrating that I won’t be out there with the boys,” he told his club’s official website.

“But, we have got a good side here, so I am confident that we are going to go through to the next stage.

“It will be a good for the boys if we can reach the next round. It does not matter who we face, as long as we get to the next level, whoever we get will be a good game.

“I will also be available for selection then, so I am pretty excited.

“It will be a big boost if we can get to Wembley, we need the confidence. Everyone’s confidence is a bit down but this is a different competition.

“It is a fresh start for everyone, it is important that we get some confidence going into both of the competitions.”
