Russell boost for Wolves, but Harrison suffers setback

Warrington full-back Matty Russell is in line to make his debut for the Wolves this week against London, but forward Ben Harrison is out for a month after suffering a hamstring injury.

Russell, a close season signing from Gold Coast Titans, suffered a leg injury in pre-season and has sat out the first three games of the season.

Harrison had been included in the 19-man squad to face Hull, but pulled a hamstring on Friday, which is set to rule him out for 4-5 weeks.

Coach Tony Smith said: “Russell is likely for next week. He ripped it up in training on Saturday and Sunday, so fingers crossed, as long as there’s no training accidents like we had with Ben Harrison.

“He’s quite devastated at the moment. We’ve had a couple of players who have worked hard to get back fit over the close season and then have picked up injuries.

“But looking at the positives, Ben Evans got the call up and comes in and scores a try. A great way to bounce back after being dropped earlier in the week.”

Fellow forward Simon Grix, who played against Leeds last week, is set to miss the next couple of games with an ankle injury.

Winger Chris Riley turned out for Championship side Swinton in their defeat to Workington on Sunday, and is set to make a return to Wolves colours this weekend.
