France move for Pearce
Catalans Dragons are being linked with a move for veteran half-back Mitchell Pearce from Newcastle Knights. The 32-year-old has represented New South Wales 19 times in the Origin arena and is an NRL Grand Final winner. Pearce, who worked under Steve McNamara at Sydney Roosters, is being touted as a replacement for James Maloney.
Salford have a King
Leeds prop King Vuniyayawa is set to join Salford for 2022. The Fiji international is off-contract at the Rhinos at the end of the season and will link up with the Red Devils. (Leeds Live)
Martin set for Leeds stay
Papua New Guinea captain Rhyse Martin is set to stay at Leeds next season. The 28-year-old is off-contract with the Rhinos at the end of the campaign but is poised to extend his stay at Headingley. (Yorkshire Evening Post)
Koukash to return?
Former Salford owner Marwan Koukash is keen on a return to rugby league. He said: “I miss the involvement in rugby league. It’s in my blood, I’m hooked on it and I would love to get involved again. I know for sure I will never get involved with Salford for various reasons. But I have a special love for Leigh and maybe one day I might be joining Derek [Beaumont].” (BBC Radio Manchester)
Leigh utility attracting interest
Championship side Newcastle Thunder want to bring Leigh full-back or winger Craig Mullen to Kingston Park next season. Newcastle want to build a strong team as they aim for a push for promotion into Super League but it is understood that the Centurions would like to keep hold of the 23-year-old. He has made 10 appearances for the Centurions this year.
